Obituary for Jesus M "Jesse" DeCarlos

Jesus M "Jesse" DeCarlos
Jesus “Jesse” DeCarlos died peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2018 in Mount Holly, NJ, following a long, courageous battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Jesse had touched in both small and large ways throughout his vibrant life. He leaves his beloved wife of 34 years, Jean (Llamas) DeCarlos; his daughters, Jessica DeCarlos, Jeanamari “Jinny” DeCarlos, Francella Nelthrope, Concepcion Morales; his siblings Manuela (DeCarlos) Silang, Jose DeCarlos, Gregorio DeCarlos; and many close family and friends. He is predeceased by his siblings Juan DeCarlos and Miguel DeCarlos. Born and raised in the Philippines, the son of Jesus Sr. and Hilaria (Mangune) DeCarlos, he moved halfway around the world, to Queens, NY in his twenties, in search of opportunities for a better life. Jesse graduated from De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He spent many years as a successful accountant, both self-employed and for a firm in Manhattan, and looked forward to helping his family and friends during tax season year after year. Jesse loved to travel with his wife, Jean, to their homes in the Philippines and Florida, and some of his favorite years were spent coaching and watching his daughters, Jessica and Jinny, play tennis and travel all throughout the east coast for tennis tournaments.
Jesse was a proud Chess Grandmaster, and won the Chess U.S. Open in the 70’s. He had many passions, including going to the casino, collecting hats, playing cards, and airplane figurines, and wearing the most colorful wardrobe in NJ. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was always the life of the party.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 11AM at the Sacred Heart Church at 260 High St., Mt Holly. Family and friends may visit with the family on Friday evening, February 9th from 5-9PM at Lee Funeral Home, 317 High St., Mt. Holly.
