Obituary for John H. Knapp

John H. Knapp
John H. Knapp of Browns Mills passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016. He was 74.
John was born in Brookville, Pa. to the late Floyd and Edith Knapp, and was a brother to seven siblings. John proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before settling down in Browns Mills, N.J., where he was the proprietor of John H. Knapp Drywall for over 30 years.
John leaves behind his loving and supportive wife, Rita (Davern) Knapp; four children, John Knapp (Ann), Robert Knapp (Deborah), Amy Knapp-Richey (Christopher) and Richard Knapp; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Those who knew him well will understand how hard it is to put into words all that he was. John was many things to many people, he was a Marine, a farmer, a devoted husband and amazing father and grandfather, but above all else, he was a friend to so many.
He was incredibly hardworking and strived for perfection in everything he did, yet he was selfless; he was proud, without arrogance, courageous and generous in time, resources and love to all he met. John had a great sense of humor and could light up any room with his presence. He was, in short, the embodiment of the best that mankind has to offer.
Over his 74 years in this life, John made a tremendous mark on his corner of the world and he will be sorely missed by many. His presence may not last, but the memories of him will last forever.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the Lee Funeral Home, 317 High Street, Mount Holly, N.J., where relatives and friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening. Interment will follow the service on Monday at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, N.J., with military honors by the United States Marine Corps.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made in memory of John to New Jersey's Mission of Honor, P.O. Box 149, Lodi, NJ 07644 or www.njsmissionofhonor.org.
