Obituary for Robert E Farrell

Robert E. Farrell, age 85, of Pemberton, NJ, passed away Wednesday August 21, 2019 due to complications from heart surgery. Bob was born in Wrightstown, NJ and lived in Pemberton his whole life. Bob was a proud veteran , serving in the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. After his service Bob worked for over 40 years as an auto mechanic for Charles B. Yerkes and sons and as a Service manager for Mt Ephraim Dodge. Bob had many interests and hobbies, including military aircraft, ham radio, South Jersey history and local railroad history. He also was an excellent photographer and developed and printed his own photos. He was the "go to guy" for local history expertise, especially about the Pemberton and Hightstown Railroad/ Union Transportation Co. Bob worked with several authors and historical societies supplying photos and information for numerous books and publications. He was a longtime member of the Pennsylvania Raikroad Technical and Historical Society, both of the national organization and the Philadelphia Chapter. He was also a member of the National Railroad Historical Society, both the West Jersey and Jersey Central chapters.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Rober D. And Catherine W. Farrell (Ingling), his longtime companion, Mary Jane Gray and his sister, Rhoda M. Carmichael. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, numerous family of Mrs. Gray and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Friday August 30th at 4PM at the LEE FUNERAL HOM, 317 High St. Mt. Holly. Relatives and Fiends may visit with the family from 3-4PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Bob to the he American Heart Association or to the donor's choice.
