Obituary for Eric Steven Preuss

Eric Steven Preuss

Eric Steven Preuss, age 37, left this Earth on Tuesday, February 12, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Eric lived life to the fullest and really loved living his life in Philadelphia. Born at Rancocas Valley Hospital on January 21, 1983, he lived both in Mt Holly, NJ, and in North Bangor, NY. After graduating from Rancocas Valley HS, he received his Associate Degree from Community College of Philadelphia and his Bachelors of Science in Broadcasting and Communication from Temple University. He was studying to be a Physician’s Assistant and was employed at Interstate Storage and Pipeline in Burlington, NJ at the time of his death.

Having found a passion for hockey at age 6, he played on various teams most of his life; including RVRHS, Temple University, Wissahickon Spring League and the Delaware Valley Men’s Winter Hockey League.  He was a gentle soul who loved his 4 cats, walking through his beloved city and being with the love of his life, Miss Julie Mui, who mourns his passing.  He will be missed by his huge family and large group of friends who will forever remember his large winning smile, his wonderful personality and his determination and positive attitude which never wavered.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, John Steven Shaffar; his young cousins, Elizabeth Grace Stevens and Josie Ann-Elise Campbell; his maternal grandparents, Arvilla Shaffar and Delbert Shaffar; and his paternal grandparents, Ingeborg Preuss and Rudolph Preuss. He is survived by his mother, Sarah (Shaffar) Hutchins of Mt. Holly, NJ; his father Rudolph Preuss of Westampton, NJ; his sister Lauren Caparbi and her husband Nick; nieces Natalie and Noelle; and nephews, Nathan and Cole; all of Eastampton, NJ. He is also survived by 15 maternal aunts and uncles and well over 60 cousins.

There will be a viewing at Lee’s Funeral Home in Mt. Holly, NJ on Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 12 Noon to 2 PM.  There will be no burial as Eric wished to be cremated in order to protect the Earth.  Donations can be made to his mother, Sarah Hutchins for Eric’s final expenses, to an animal rescue or to cancer research.
