Obituary for William F "Bill" Dent

Bill was born in Oklahoma City, OK on March 22, 1946. Having spent his early
childhood just outside Union, West Virginia, he and his family moved to Levittown,
Pa in 1952 . He graduated Woodrow Wilson High School in 1964 and joined the US
Navy shortly thereafter. He proudly served as a radio operator in a P2-V Neptune in
the mid-1960s traveling from his base in Brunswick, ME to Hawaii, Italy, Greece,
Spain and North Africa.
Following his time in the US Navy, Bill began his career at the US Steel Mill in
Fairless Hills, PA where he worked until 1988. In 1989, he signed on as the Director
of Facilities for Rancocas Valley Regional High School. The next 25 years where
some of the proudest moments of his life. He was inducted to the Rancocas Valley
Hall of Fame as “the voice” of RV sports having announced many football and
basketball games. During his time at RV, Bill was also a member of the New Jersey
Buildings and Grounds Association where he was President of the Burlington County
Chapter from 1998-2000. He also served as the State President from 2003-2006.
For enjoyment, Bill was a coach for the Vincentown Merchant Baseball Club from
1996 through 2005 alongside Harry Thompson and Ed Moore. He enjoyed his trips to
Atlantic City with his wife Eleanor, as well as time spent with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents William W. Dent and Evelyn Dent (Dodd) of
Martinsburg, WV; his brother Barton Fox of Virginia Beach, VA; and his wife Eleanor
Dent (Giangrante). He is survived by his only son, Dr. Anthony V. Dent, and his wife
Jennifer Dent (Lea) of Medford, NJ; his sister Sandra K. Glaser (Dent) and her
husband Ed Glaser of Bensalem, PA; in-laws, nieces and nephews.
