Obituary for Roberto Torres Sr.

On April 1, 2021, Roberto “Robert” Torres Sr. passed away at age 70. He was born to the late Armando Torres Sr. and Rosa Nelly (Casiano) Torres on October 29, 1950, in Yauco, Puerto Rico. He was a long-time resident of Mount Holly and is survived by his brother Armando Torres Jr., sister-in-law Emma Torres, sister Mirta Ortiz (Torres) and brother-in-law Gilbert Ortiz.
Robert was proud of his sons, Roberto “Bobby” Torres Jr. and Ricardo Torres, and adored his grandchildren – Anaiyah, Antonio, Rick, Javier, Vanessa, and Kira – and great-grandsons Luca and Mateo. He had a special place in his heart for his ex-wife Ana Torres and was very close friends with the mothers of his grandchildren, Christy Torres and Stephanie Torres. Robert appreciated them for being wonderful mothers to his grandchildren and caring for him.
Robert loved watching sports, mostly baseball and college basketball, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Mets. He was known to give a “hard time” to those he loved and enjoyed the back-and-forth banter. Robert had a special bond with each of his grandchildren. They will remember him for sharing his jellybeans, coconut candies from Puerto Rico, enjoying late night meals like pork roll egg and cheese sandwiches together, playing games on his phone, his nicknames for them, and dancing the only way he could. He will be deeply missed but his family looks forward to seeing him again in heaven.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Lee Funeral Home, 317 High Street, Mount Holly, NJ at 10AM. Relatives and Friends can visit with the family from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ.
