Obituary for Jose Juan Benet

Jose Juan Benet passed away peacefully on July 13, 2022, at his residence in Browns Mills, he was 89. Jose was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico and spent most of his life in Browns Mills. He graduated from high school and joined the United States Army and spent 27 honorable years defending his country.

During his career in the U.S. Army, he earned many service medals including the Korean service medal, the United Nations service medal, the Vietnam service medal, the RVN Campaign medal, the National Defense medal, Good Conduct medal, 6 service stripes, 3 OS bars, Expect infantry badge, Drill SGT badge, and the prestigious Bronze Star. He served from 1948 to 1975.

Jose was a dedicated father and a devoted grandfather. He was preceded in death by his sister Luz Flores and his loving wife Maria Delia Benet.

He is survived by his children Ivonne M. Benet-Rivera, Jenny L. Benet-Rivera, Maria C. Benet (Joseph), Linda S. Benet, and Jose A. Benet. He will also be missed by 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to attend Jose's viewing on Thursday July 21, 2022 from 10;00am to 11:00am at the Lee Funeral Home 317 High Street in Mount Holly where a prayer service will be held at 11:00am. Burial will follow with military honors at William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown. Email condolences to the family at leefuneralservice.com.
