Obituary for Coletta Nirdlinger (DiFiore)
Coletta (DiFiore) Nirdlinger age 78 of New Orleans, LA passed away on June 20, 2022, peacefully with family by her side. Formerly of Browns Mills, NJ where she retired from Pemberton Township School District.
Coletta is survived by her husband Leslie T. Nirdlinger Sr., her children; Denise A. Barney (Bob), Michael L. Nirdlinger (Dawn), Leslie T. Nirdlinger Jr. (Danielle) and Coletta D. Kneiblher (Jeff). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bobby, James, Katie, Sarah, Brittney, Michael, Ashley, Taylor, Warren, Genelle, Willow, Walter and Jeffrey. As well as 11 great grandchildren.
Coletta was born in Jersey City, NJ and moved to Presidential Lakes, NJ in 1965. She was one of the Founding members of the Presidential Lakes Fire & Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary Unit. Coletta was in the first group of five women to enter the Burlington County Firefighting Academy and become one of the first certified female firefighters in Burlington County. After being certified Coletta became a member of Presidential Lakes Fire and Rescue Squad. Coletta was very active in community activities and events.
After retiring, Coletta moved to New Orleans where she liked the simpler things in life, sitting on the porch watching shrimp boats, playing bingo and watching birds: including King Fishers and Purple Martins.
Coletta had a unique and contagious laugh that made everyone laugh along with her. She also loved the shore, and most importantly she loved her family and spending time with them. Coletta will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 12-3pm at the Cookstown VFW, 22 Wrightstown-Cookstown Road, Cookstown, NJ 08511. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cookstown VFW Post 6590, 22 Wrightstown-Cookstown Road, Cookstown, NJ 08511 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Giving 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
