Obituary for Anthony A Virili Sr.

Anthony Albert Virili, Sr., much loved Father, Grandpop, Brother, Uncle and Friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by those close to him on March 25, 2018. He was 74. He is survived by his four sons: Anthony Virili, Jr. (Laura), Michael Virili (Samantha), Nicholas Virili (Amber) and Damian Virili; grandchildren Dean, Christine and Kyla; his longtime companion and partner Ginger Byrne; her children Jeff and Julie; and her grandson Nate. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Elaine & James Bucs; his nephews and niece, Joseph (Christiana), Ian (Amy) and Alleah Bucs; and several great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A lifelong resident of Burlington County and most recently of Lumberton, Tony was born in Trenton to the late Richard & Louise (nee Belloni) Virili, and grew up in Roebling, NJ. He was a 1960 graduate of Holy Cross High School, the first class to do so. Tony began his career as a musician and loved singing and playing the guitar. He could often be found or convinced to sing some Sinatra-one of his favorites. He was happiest when surrounded by his family. Whether he was boating, camping, helping with home projects and restorations, or just offering to lend a helping hand, Tony was always a solid shoulder to lean on. His family knew they could count on him for anything, even in recent years when his health was failing. His optimism and no-nonsense attitude toward life served him well. He dedicated six years to the Army National Guard and eventually took ownership of the successful family business, The Lakeview Inn. His love, compassion, sense of humor and trademark “smirk” will be missed by all who knew him.
At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr, Marlton, NJ 08053 in Tony’s memory and spirit. Special thanks to Susan Constantine, Ivy Williams & Craig Goings. Funeral Services and Interment will be private and condolences may be sent to the family through leefuneralservice.com. Arrangements were made with Ed Kaelin III at the LEE FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Holly.
