Obituary for Lee Floyd Oliver

Lee Floyd Oliver
Lee Floyd Oliver
Lee Floyd Oliver of Mount Holly NJ was born August 17, 1935 to Lillian and Milton Oliver in Winona Mississippi. His parents moved to Toledo Ohio when he was 8 years old, and there he started his education at Chase St. Elementary School and went on to graduate from Woodward High School. He was preceded in death by both parents, loving wife Martha Oliver, three precious children Laurence, Denise, and Maurice Oliver and seven siblings. Lee enlisted into the United States Air Force and served for 26 years, while receiving numerous accomplishments, awards and accolades. He was a former professional musician, and part of the prestigious United States Air Force Tops In Blues Band. Lee was also an award-wining essayist, and poet. One of the things he enjoyed was working with young students in the schools to give them a level of creating and writing poetry. As a former Vice President of The New Jersey Poetry Society’s School Chapter Program he was committed to getting younger students excited about poetry and creative writing. His efforts with that resulted in him being awarded The South Jersey Reading Council’s Literacy Award, the Council’s first award to a non-professional educator in its 20-year history. Some of his hobbies included making homemade wines, gardening, fishing, building train sets, and being a short-wave radio operator. He also was a member of The International High IQ Society.
He leaves to cherish his memories son Andrew Lee Oliver, daughter Janerfer Oliver, grandkids Chanielle Simmons, Maurice and Justin Oliver, great grandkids Maddox and King Oliver, brother Aylais (Marge) Oliver, sister’s Qureda (Mack) Collins, and Lynnette (Wilbur) Wilson. Longtime best friend Guy Wilson, and very special friend Elaine Griffith along with a host of nieces and nephews.
